Emergence: Bring Forth the Light

Redmond artist Rebecca Sentgeorge presents a solo exhibition of gouache paintings on black and dark-toned paper at The OXFORD Hotel in downtown Bend throughout October 2026.

In this new series, Sentgeorge explores the expressive possibilities of gouache, an opaque watercolor, on dark surfaces. Rather than painting the shadows, she leaves portions of the paper unpainted, allowing its deep tones to create contrast and atmosphere. The paintings include still lifes, reflections on water, and scenes from the natural world.

Emergence: Bringing Forth the Light explores how light, shadow, and the unpainted surface work together to shape a painting.
