The High Desert Art League
was formed in 2000 as a professional artists' group working to support the advancement of its member artists through exhibitions, education and related outreach. Each artist contributes their experience and talents to benefit the group, sharing knowledge, information, opportunities, challenges and successes.

The 13 members of this group are all accomplished artists who exhibit a wide range of talents in various media. Luminous watercolors, vibrant oils, pastel paintings and more are specialties among the members .
Vivian Olsen creates art using watercolor, acrylic, and pastel media and her subjects range from wild to tame birds and animals. Also, using watercolor in an intriguing way Helen Brown creates distinctive landscapes by using a distinctive batik media. Jacqueline Newbold paints colorful landscapes of far away places, and dramatic florals.
Working in oils or acrylics, artist Janice Rhodes uses hot wax as her medium to create impressionist, encaustic paintings. Joren Traveller is a Sculptor who also paints to create whimsical figures with ceramics, and painted landscapes in oils. Jean Requa Lubin paints realistic horses, figures, and equine landscapes using oil on canvas. Janet, Frost, also an oil painter, creates very detailed and exquisite landscapes of Oregon.
Barbara Cella is a landscape painter who uses oils and acrylics to create colorful scenes of mountains, lakes, and other vistas of Oregon.
Karen Maier, a professional photographer specializes in creative photography of nature subjects. Michelle Lindblom uses printmaking presses to create her colorful and abstract paintings.
Several new members were welcomed in 2023 to the League including: Liz Haberman a watercolorist who has paints varied subjects of people, structures, and many , many other subjects. Pamela Beaverson has returned to the subjects she loves to paint - mountains and landscapes with loads of green vegetation, and also creates art using printmaking. Jan Dow paints lovely landscapes using either oils or pastels.
All members (maximum 13) of the High Desert Art League are professional artists, most with considerable experience and awards in their field. Their work can be found in galleries throughout the West and in private collections.
