HIGH DESERT ART LEAGUE
The 13 members of this group are all accomplished artists who exhibit a wide range of talents in various media. Luminous watercolors, vibrant oils, and pastel paintings are specialties of several members -
Vivian Olsen creates art in all three media and her subjects range from wild to domesticated birds and animals. There is more in the watercolor realm with the intriguing figures and dramatic landscapes by Helen Brown and Jacqueline Newbold.
Working in oils, artist Barbara Slater paints large, vivid animal portraits and florals on canvas. Janice Rhodes uses hot wax as her medium to create colorful encaustic paintings. Joren Traveller is a Sculptor who creates bronzes of horses and birds and paints them, as well, in oils. Dee McBrien-Lee is an artist who creates intriguing abstract paintings with bright acrylics, and Jean Requa Lubin paints realistic horses, figures, and landscapes using oil on canvas.
Two new members who were welcomed to the League recently are Karen Meier who specializes in creative photography with nature as her subjects, and Rebecca Sentgeorge whose watercolors sparkle with color and interesting textures. Michelle Lindblom and Janet Frost are HDAL'S newest members. Both are exceptional artists--Michelle creates splendid abstract paintings, and Janet, who is an oil painter, does exquisite landscapes of Central Oregon.
The High Desert Art League was formed in 2000 as a professional artists' group working to support the advancement of its member artists through exhibitions, education and related outreach. Each artist contributes their experience and talents to benefit the group, sharing knowledge, information, opportunities, challenges and successes.
