Born in Tokyo, Japan to a military family, traveling has always been part of Jacqueline Newbold's life. Her wanderlust spirit gives her a never-ending source of inspiration to represent little gems of the world in her color-filled paintings. With her watercolor journal under her arm and a few painting supplies, she is ready to capture memories of her travel experiences and record her journeys in a creative and unique way using paints and mixed media. When at home in her studio, these small paintings and sketches are often the seedling for larger creations. "My goal is to share the essence of these beautiful places: the dappled light on fields of poppies, the brilliance of a tropical beach, and tranquil old-world villages nestled among the surrounding cliffs. Because of my French heritage I am exploring the romance of France and bringing it to you in my works of art." Jacqueline is a painter of color, sharing her expression of luminous light in both her award-winning art and by teaching in her studio, the Bend Art Station and at the Art & Soul Retreat in Portland, Oregon. She conducts group painting trips to Provence, France, which often include a day of painting in the gardens of the Saint-Paul-de-Mausole Monastery, overlooking the olive trees where Vincent Van Gogh lived and painted. Her next scheduled trip to Provence is June, 2011 while the poppies are blooming. She is also planning a group painting trip to the Oregon Hood River Valley to paint the lavender fields and Mount Hood in August of 2010.
